
Richie Hurd is the Chief Operating Officer of Hurd Real Estate. He focuses on sourcing net lease acquisitions, marketing the company’s real estate portfolio, development, and managing banking relationships. Over the past decade, Mr. Hurd has played a key role in numerous significant transactions, earning the prestigious “Deal of the Year” award twice from the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association. In recognition of his leadership and impact on the industry, he was inducted into the Midwest Real Estate News Hall of Fame in 2024.
On the investment front, he has helped Hurd Real Estate acquire over $1 billion in properties across 20 states in the past 10 years.
On the Development side, Mr. Hurd has played a key role in bringing first-to-market retailers to the Des Moines Metro. Notable additions include Nordstrom Rack, Topgolf, Dick’s Sporting Goods, REI, The Container Store, HomeGoods, and Raising Cane’s.
Prior to partnering with his father, Richard Hurd, Mr. Hurd gained valuable experience at a national real estate firm in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he focused on retail investment property sales and assisted in leasing and managing Hurd Real Estate-owned properties in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Hurd is deeply committed to community service. In 2018, he was named the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Man of the Year” after leading a record-breaking fundraising campaign that raised $331,000 in ten weeks. His dedication to both business and community is further evidenced by his current-and-past service on various for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce, Pro Iowa Soccer, and the West Des Moines Historical Society fundraising committee.
Mr. Hurd is a 2006 graduate of Creighton University, where he earned a BSBA in Entrepreneurial Management and was a member of the Creighton University men’s soccer team. Richie and his wife, Megan, have three children and attend Valley Church in West Des Moines, IA.
