Richard “Richie” Hurd has been an integral part of Hurd Real Estate’s operations since joining the company in 2008. His wide-ranging responsibilities include marketing the company’s real estate portfolio, overseeing acquisitions, spearheading development projects, conducting financial analysis, and managing banking relationships. Over the past decade, Mr. Hurd has been instrumental in numerous significant real estate transactions, twice earning the prestigious “Deal of the Year” award from the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association.
Prior to partnering with his father, Richard Hurd, Mr. Hurd gained valuable experience at a national real estate firm in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he focused on retail investment property sales and assisted in leasing and managing Hurd Real Estate-owned properties in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Hurd is deeply committed to community service. In 2018, he was named the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Man of the Year” after leading a record-breaking fundraising campaign that raised $331,000. His dedication to both business and community is further evidenced by his service on various for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pro Iowa Soccer, Lola’s Fine Hot Sauce, and the West Des Moines Historical Society fundraising committee.
Mr. Hurd is a 2006 graduate of Creighton University, where he earned a BSBA in Entrepreneurial Management and was a member of the Creighton University men’s soccer team. Richie and his wife, Megan, have three children and attend Valley Church in West Des Moines, IA.
